March Madness Tournament of Books

Rules and Procedures

1. Voting is open the whole week, beginning each Monday at 8:30 AM and ending Friday at 3:30 PM

2. Each staff/student/parent may vote ONCE for EACH pairing of books. This means during the first round, each person can vote a maximum of sixteen times, because there are sixteen match-ups.

3. To vote, take a strip of paper from your grade's manila envelope at the bottom of the board. Each strip of paper has a number that you can match up to your assigned number for class. You then place your strip in the envelopes that belong to the book you wish to see move on in the tournament or the book that you like better in each pairing. Teachers and parents have their own manila envelope.

4. You do not have to vote for all pairings, especially since not everybody has read every book in the tournament.

5. Votes will be tallied on Friday afternoon after school.

6. The book with the most votes in each pairing will move on to the next round, which is held the following week.

7. There are many books in the tournament that have been adapted into movies, but remember, this is a tournament about the books, so try not to think about the movie version when voting.

8. YOu can get a sneak peak at who moved on to the next round each weekend by accessing the "Special Activities in 5th Grade" link on the page before and clicking "Tournament Brackets."
